Often when I am beginning to work with a couple, I will hold up a two-sided object, like a book, and ask them to describe it. Invariably they have different reports. This is a simple illustration of how difficult it can be to understand another person’s point of view. But it is often hard to remember that we each have differing awareness, which lead to our unique perception that forms our feelings and thoughts.
In a very literal way, we each see the world our own way. If we can embrace this, understand its implications, we come to understand that personal power in all aspects of our lives resides in the highest levels of awareness we can achieve in all aspects of our and others experience.
